When is Funding Available?

Funding is administered by Indigenous Services Canada and is available to any child who meets any ONE of the criteria.

Parents, guardians, children who are at least 18 or another person who can represent a child can apply for funding in the areas of health, social supports and education. Funding may cover things like land-based activities, school supplies, teaching assistants, mobility aids, mental health services and many other things.

Funding is available to a child who meets any ONE of the following criteria:

  • is registered or eligible to be registered under the Indian Act
  • has a parent who is registered or eligible to be registered under the Indian Act
  • is recognized by their First Nation for Jordan's Principle funding
  • is ordinarily resident on Reserve (usually or used to usually live on Reserve, is a dependant of someone on Reserve or returns to live on Reserve for part of the year)
