Help from Indigenous Organizations and Governments

There are Indigenous governments and organizations that provide services and supports in many of the areas discussed in this section.

Some of these supports are available on reserves and others in urban areas. For some of them you may need to be a citizen or member of the Métis Nation or the particular First Nation while others are more widely available to anyone in the area.

Central Urban Métis Federation  (CUMFI)
A community-based Métis owned and operated non-profit, charitable organization in Saskatoon that offers services and programs for Indigenous people living in Saskatoon.

Friendship Centres 
There are friendship centres in a number of cities and other locations across Saskatchewan. Each offers services and activities. Find one in your area by visiting the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan website, or by looking in your phonebook, an online directory or by calling 211 or visiting sk.211.ca.

Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN)
The FSIN represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan. The Federation is committed to honouring the spirit and intent of the Treaties, as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of the Treaty promises.

Saskatchewan Tribal Councils and Saskatchewan First Nations
To find a list of Tribal Councils and First Nations in Saskatchewan visit the Saskatchewan First Nations Natural Resource Centre of Excellence website. Many Tribal Councils and First Nations have their own websites that describe the services and programs they offer. Information will also be available at your First Nation (Band) Council or Tribal Council Office.
